Environmental justice leaders fighting for equity, Justice And political power

Looking for a network where you can find leaders working on environmental justice, racial and economic justice, food justice, health equity, political power, civil rights and human rights?

The National Black Environmental Justice Network is (NBEJN) is the network that you have been searching for. NBEJN is the Network that is working on important issues for Black People, across the United States and if there was a time that a Network like ours is needed it is right now.

We have two organization membership categories:

  1. Grassroots Organizations: Grassroots Organizations that support the mission and goals of the Network; work or serve as environmental justice, racial and economic justice, climate justice, food justice, health equity, political power, civil rights and human rights organization, with a direct constituency, are invited to join NBEJN. Designated representatives will have all of the rights and privileges of Network membership. Each organization will have one vote and only one member from each organization can serve as an elected or appointed officer. Membership feed is based upon the organization’s annual budget.

  2. Friends of NBEJN Organization/Affiliates: Membership is designed to include those organizations that support the mission and goals of the Network but are larger national organizations working in chapters, state, regional, and national networks or associations. The members of these organizations work or serve as environmental justice, racial and economic justice, climate justice, food justice, health equity, political power, civil rights and human rights professionals. They benefit from the networking and information dissemination activities and are equally represented by NBEJN in its advocacy efforts before federal, state and local governments.  Professional Organization/Affiliate Members do not have voting privileges and may not be elected or appointed to an office.

We have fIVE individual membership categories.

  1. Individual Practicing Professionals: Practicing Professional Members serve as environmental justice, racial and economic justice, food justice, health equity, political power, civil rights and human rights professionals, or are actively engaged in those professions. They are interested in supporting the mission of NBEJN. The Practicing Professional Member enjoys all of the rights and privileges of membership.

  2. Individual Affiliate Members: Individual Affiliate Members do not work as practicing environmental justice professionals. They share the goals and support the mission of NBEJN. The Individual Affiliate Member benefits from the networking and information dissemination activities of the network and is equally represented by NBEJN in its advocacy efforts before federal, state and local governments. Individual Affiliate Members do not have voting privileges and may not be elected or appointed to an office.

  3. Student: Young Adult/Student members are working and/or registered, undergraduate or graduate students at an educational institution. Members should be interested in, or actively engaged in, environmental justice,  racial and economic justice, food justice, climate justice, health equity, political power, civil rights and human rights or a related field. They enjoy all of the rights and privileges of membership and can be elected or appointed to an office. 

  4. Young Professional: Young professional members are early-career professionals aged 21-35 working in the field of environmental justice or a related field (racial and economic justice, food justice, climate justice, health equity, political power, civil rights and human rights). Young professional members can be elected or appointed to an office.  Participation in a Working Group is required.

  5. Retiree: Retiree membership is for those retired individuals who have been active members and are not currently working in the environmental justice, racial and economic justice, food justice, health equity, political power, civil rights and human rights profession. Membership allows retirees to stay connected with the profession and continue taking advantage of all rights and privileges of membership.
